Create ideas with the Jira Service Management portal

You can integrate Jira Service Management and Jira Product Discovery to automatically create ideas in the discovery project when a new issue with the "New feature" type is created in Jira.

Configure a Jira Service Management Project

You need to create a service project first and then allow users outside the org to share ideas through a ticket.

  1. Follow the steps in this guide to create a service project.


Setup the automation rules

This automation will enable Jira Service Management to create a Jira Product Discovery idea when you receive a request.

Before you begin

  • You must have a Jira Service Management project.

Steps

  1. In Jira Service Managemet, go to Project Settings > Automation.

  2. Follow this sample configuration to setup the automation:

    1. Trigger: Issue Created

    2. Condition: Issue fields - Issue Type is equal to New Feature

    3. Action: Create a new issue under your discovery Project

      1. Project: Choose the discovery project where you want to create the idea.

      2. Issue Type: Select Idea

      3. Fields: Select the fields that you would like to include
