Configure an override for a control
You can customize your data security policy by adding an override to a control.
Say you’ve chosen to allow people in your organization to download attachments. You can still prevent attachment downloads for specific content. For example you might prevent attachment downloads from one or more spaces in a Jira app, or from an entire Confluence app. Or, if you’re using Guard Premium, you might exclude pages and work items set with certain classification levels. An override lets you set up your control for those types of situations.
To keep your active control safe while you configure an override, your changes are saved in a separate draft. Each control has one draft. Your active control remains unchanged while you draft. When your overrides are fully configured, you can activate your draft, which replaces the previous version of the control. this means you can't add an override directly to an active control.
With the exception of the Marketplace and custom app access control, overrides can only be added to a control if your plan includes Guard Standard or Guard Premium. You can add a single override for each override type — apps and spaces, and for Guard Premium plans, classification levels too.
For the app override, you can add up to 1000 Atlassian apps.
For the spaces override, you can add up to 2000 spaces from 1000 Atlassian apps.

Add a draft to a control
A draft control reduces the risk of accidental changes to active controls. It also gives you time to work on multiple overrides in your own time. When you add a draft, your active control remains unchanged. Your draft will not impact your organization in any way. A draft can remain inactive for any length of time.
When you activate a draft, it replaces the previous control. This action can’t be undone. Any overrides configured for your previous control can’t be retrieved.
To create a draft and add an override to a control in your policy, follow these steps:
移動 Atlassian Administration. Select your organization if you have more than one.
Select Security > Data protection > Data security policy.
Select the control you wish to configure from the list. This will display its current configuration, including any overrides.
Select Create draft to enter draft mode.
Select Add override.
Select the target of your override, such as an Atlassian app, or some spaces.
Use the search bar to find specific Atlassian app names or space names.
Use the selection options to select what your override applies to.
Select Save overrides to add your override to your draft control.
When you’re ready to replace your existing control with your draft control, select Activate to activate your draft.
If you don’t activate your draft, you can still navigate away from the page and your draft will be saved and inactive.
Edit an existing draft control
If you’ve been working on a draft for a control, you can go back to it at any time and keep working on it as a draft. While working on your draft, your active control remains unchanged.
Remember, when you activate a draft, it replaces the previous control. This action can’t be undone. Any overrides configured for your previous control had can’t be retrieved.
To edit an existing draft and its overrides for a control in your policy, follow these steps:
移動 Atlassian Administration. Select your organization if you have more than one.
Select Security > Data protection > Data security policy.
Select the Draft controls tab to view all existing drafts.
Select the name of the draft control to open it in edit mode.
Make sure the Configuration dropdown is set to your desired final state (Blocked or Allowed). Changing this after adding overrides will remove the overrides.
Select an action from the following options:
To add a new override, select Add override.
To adjust an existing override, select More actions (), then Edit override.
To remove an existing override, select More actions (), then Remove override.
Follow the prompts to configure the override, then select Save overrides.
When you’re ready to replace your existing control with your draft control, select Activate to activate your draft.
If you don’t activate your draft, you can still navigate away from the page and your draft will be saved and inactive. Only one draft is available per control.
When you activate a draft control, it replaces your previous control. This can't be undone. Make sure your draft control is complete before activating it.
Delete a draft control
You can delete a draft control if you change your mind. This ensures it won’t be accidentally activated later on. You can’t delete your live control.
移動 Atlassian Administration. Select your organization if you have more than one.
Select Security > Data protection > Data security policy.
Select the Draft controls tab to view all existing drafts.
Select the name of the draft control to open it in edit mode.
At the top right corner of the screen, select More actions (), then Delete.
The draft for the selected control will be deleted. You can create a new draft for a control that doesn’t already have one at any time.
