Automation basics
Understand the general concepts and best practices of automation in Atlassian cloud products.
For automation functionality, Jira Server and Jira Cloud have different set-up and features. This page outlines the main differences, and other things you should know.
In Jira Server and Jira Data Center, you can add automation functionality by installing the Automation for Jira Server Marketplace app. Once the app is installed, there is no limit for how many rules you can configure and execute.
However, note that many of the automation features developed for Jira Cloud in recent years are not available in Automation for Jira Server.
In Jira Cloud, automation functionality is included out-of-the-box. However, there are limits to how many times rules can be executed per month, depending on which plan you’re on:
Number of rule runs per month | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Free | Standard | Premium | Enterprise | |
Jira Work Management | 100 | 1,000 | 100 multiplied by the number of users | Plan not available for Jira Work Management |
Jira | 100 | 1,700 | 1,000 multiplied by the number of users | Unlimited |
Jira Service Management | 200 | 5,000 | 1,000 multiplied by the number of users | Unlimited |
Jira Product Discovery | 200 | 500 | Plan not available for Jira Product Discovery | Plan not available for Jira Product Discovery |
