Automation basics
Understand the general concepts and best practices of automation in Atlassian cloud products.
From November 1, we are changing the way automation rules will be counted and billed in Jira Cloud. You'll be able to preview these changes in-product from October 1. To read more, see the announcement on our website.
To manage project automations, you must have the appropriate project permissions:
Company-managed projects: You’ll need the Administer projects and Browse projects permissions for your project. Learn more about permissions for company-managed projects
Team-managed projects: You’ll need Administrator access for your project. Learn more about permissions for team-managed projects
To manage global automations, you’ll need the Administer Jira permission. Learn more about global permissions in Jira Cloud.
Go to Automation and select Create rule.
Select the Microsoft Azure action for your rule. Restart Virtual Machine in Azure is the only action available for Microsoft Azure at the moment.
Select Connect to create a connection with Microsoft Azure. Connections allow your automation rules to make changes in other tools and products.
Sign in to your Microsoft account and select Accept to give requested permissions for Atlassian Automation to restart Virtual Machines in Microsoft Azure.
Make sure you’ve added Email in your Microsoft Azure profile information for authentication of the rule’s connection. Learn how to add or change profile information in Microsoft Azure
