Using Rovo Chat for data analysis

Rovo Chat now lets users analyze and visualize data from a wide variety of sources directly in the chat, so you can accomplish complex data analysis tasks without leaving the interface.

What you can do with data in Rovo Chat

• Ingest data from multiple sources: Excel, CSV, TSV, relational databases, Confluence tables, and more.

• Combine and analyze data from different files and sources.

• Visualize data with charts, graphs, and advanced visualizations.

• Perform advanced analytics including predictive and prescriptive modeling.

Supported data sources

Rovo Chat can analyze data from following data sources:

• Excel files (.xls, .xlsx)

• CSV and TSV files

• Relational databases (including Confluence-connected databases)

• Archives (.zip, .tar) containing supported file types

• Embedded tables in Confluence pages

Future data sources will include:

• NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB)

• Columnar formats (Parquet, Feather)

• Structured formats (JSON, BSON)

• Hierarchical data (HDF5)

• Images with tables/charts, other binary formats (Stata, SAS, SPSS, MATLAB, ARFF)

• Web formats (HTML, XML) via BYOD workflows

Currently unstructured data is not supported. Some examples of unstructured data are Confluence pages, PDFs or Word documents, or Slack threads and emails.

Types of analysis supported

• Descriptive Analysis: Summarize historical data like means, medians, trends, etc.

• Diagnostic Analysis: Drill down to understand patterns or anomalies in data

• Predictive & Prescriptive Analysis: Forecast future outcomes and recommend actions

Visualization types include:
Line graphs, histograms, scatterplots, box plots, pie charts, contingency tables, Pareto charts, heat maps, and more.

Known limitations

Rovo chat does have certain limitations regarding how it ingests and processes data:

• There’s currently no option to upload your own data.

• Rovo Chat doesn’t support for uploading Google Sheets or attaching files directly in chat.

• Some large or complex queries may time out.

• Online data retrieval may be unreliable.

How to use Rovo Chat to analyze data

1. Upload or select your data source (see Supported Data Sources above).

2. Ask Rovo Chat to perform your desired analysis or visualization (e.g., “Show me aggregate sales by month”).

3. Review the output—charts, tables, and insights will be displayed in the chat.

4. Download or share results as needed.

Q: Can I upload multiple files at once?
A: While we don’t currently support uploading or analyzing multiple files at once, we plan to support it in future releases.

Q: What file types are supported in archives?
A: Only supported data files (xls/xlsx/csv/tsv) are processed from archives.

Q: Will support for more data types be added?
A: Yes, additional formats and sources are planned for future releases.
