Schedule work items to recur using automations
Scheduling a work item to recur via automated cloning can save you the effort of creating the same work item multiple times. Cloning creates a copy of a work item, copying over most of the information.
Only Jira and project admins can configure automation rules.
Set a work item to clone automatically
To set up a recurring work item in your Jira project:
Open the work item you want to clone automatically.
Select Automation via the lightning bolt icon.
Select Set to recur.
Fill in the recurring details: the frequency, the trigger, and when the rule will expire. The trigger can be based on a schedule, or it can incorporate whether the work item has been completed.
Executions of these automations count towards edition usage limits. How is my usage calculated?
Once you turn on this rule
Once the new work item is cloned and created, it inherits the automation rule which will be turned on automatically. All fields will be copied to the newly cloned work item, except for:
Attachments
Start date
Due date
Links
The due date of the cloned work item will be automatically set based on the schedule frequency. For example, in a weekly schedule the due date will be set to seven days after the creation date of the work item.
