About Jira Product Discovery
Transform product ideas into business impact.
The integration between Salesforce and Jira Product Discovery enables you to add Salesforce objects to ideas as insights and use this data for the views and formulas when prioritizing ideas.
Before you begin
You must have product access to Jira, Jira Product Discovery or Jira Service Management to set up and use integrations.
You must have creator permissions to create fields and custom formulas.
In Salesforce, select an object you want to use, and copy its link.
In Jira Product Discovery, select the needed idea, and then go to Insights > Create an insight.
Paste the Salesforce link into the Paste a link field within the insight. If needed based on your Salesforce configuration, authenticate to view the data as a new insight within a few seconds.
Pasting insight URLs to a sandbox instance is unsupported.
4. Hover over the Salesforce embedded object, click to select the needed Salesforce object properties, and then select Save.
5. Select Create.
If you create another insight using the Salesforce object, you will only see the properties you’ve chosen previously. In case you want to display other fields, then configure properties one more time.
Once the setup is ready, you can use the Chrome extension to add Salesforce objects as insights.
When you've created a few Salesforce insights, you can add fields using its data for better visualization.
You can use only number field types from Salesforce to add them to a view.
To demonstrate how it works, imagine that you are interested in the Amount property from Salesforce.
To add that property to a view:
Open Insights tab of the idea that has added Salesforce insights.
Hover over the Salesforce embedded object, click to select the Amount property, and then select Save. The data will appear within a few seconds.
In the list view, select + > Create a new field, then enter a unique field name and select Salesforce and Amount from the required dropdowns.
Select Create.
Once the field is created, it will sum the amount for all the insights that have that data type property and roll them up per idea visible in the field.
Having the proper setup, you can go to Salesforce, find another object, and add it as an insight in Jira Product Discovery. Once you create the insight, the amount shows up in the view.
When you've created a few Salesforce insights, you can use these data for custom formulas.
You can use only number field types from Salesforce to add them to a custom formula.
To create a field using Salesforce data:
In any view, go to Fields > Create a new field.
Enter a unique field name, select Custom formula, and then choose either Roll-up or Weighted score.
Select Add an input, and then choose the needed Salesforce field.
Select Create.
