Migrate values from a space field to a global field
To replace an existing space field with a new global field, you can copy its values into the new global field. When copying a space field value, the different values added to a field will be copied into the new global field across all ideas for this space.
Before you begin
You must be a space admin to copy field values to global fields.
You can copy values between two fields of the same type.
The global field needs to be added to the space.
Steps
Go to your space in Jira Product Discovery.
Next to your spaces’s name in the sidebar, select More options (…) > Space Settings > Fields.
Select an existing space field and click , or create a new field.
Once you've selected the field you want to copy into a global field, go to the bottom of the field panel and click Copy values.
Select the global field where you want to copy the values or create a new one, and then click Copy values. You can now see values under the global field for all ideas under this space.
Tip
Once you have copied values and your global field has been populated, you can replace your space field with the global field in your views. You can then eventually retire the space field to avoid confusion.
Remove fields from a space
Before you begin
Beware that removing fields from a space might impact views:
When a space field is deleted, values get lost.
If you remove (not delete) a global field from the space, it still exists at the site level and in other spaces.
System fields cannot be deleted or removed, only be hidden in views.
Steps
Go to your space in Jira Product Discovery.
Next to your spaces’s name in the sidebar, select More options (…) > Space Settings > Fields.
Select the field you want to delete and confirm the action.
Hide system fields
Space admins can now hide system fields that aren’t in use in their Jira Product Discovery spaces.
To hide system fields:
Go to your space in Jira Product Discovery.
Next to your spaces’s name in the sidebar, select More options (…) > Space Settings > Fields.
Pick a system field of your choice and then click
Click (eye) icon > Hide.
