Create or delete a Jira Product Discovery space

A Jira Product Discovery space holds all your data and insights. It is where you can explore possible ideas and prioritize upcoming work for your team.

Create a space

Before you begin

  • You need to have the global permission “Create team-managed spaces.”

To create a new space:

  1. On the left sidebar, select next to Spaces.

  2. Under Space templates, select Jira Product Discovery.

  3. Select the needed template, and then select Use template.

Almost all the Jira Product Discovery templates come with sample ideas, views, and fields to get you started. You can start fresh with a blank template or reuse the configuration of the existing space.

3. Add your space details, and then select Create space.

After a few seconds, you land in your new space.

Standardize your product management practices

You can keep space configurations consistent across all your discovery spaces by reusing an existing space setup when creating a new one. This action copies fields, views, and workflows from the selected space.

To create a new discovery space by reusing configurations from another space:

  1. On the left sidebar, select next to Spaces.

  2. Select Product Management > Reuse an existing space configuration.

  3. Select an existing space from the dropdown, and then fill in the required fields to copy the configurations,

  4. Select Create.

Make sure you’re using global fields in your original space to avoid creating duplicate space fields.

Delete a space

You can get rid of spaces that you no longer use by moving them to trash.

Before you begin

  • You need to be a Jira administrator or space admin in Jira Product Discovery.

To delete a space:

  1. From the left sidebar, select Spaces > More actions () >Manage Spaces.

  2. Find the needed space, and then select More actions () > Move to trash.

  3. On a confirmation dialog, select Move.

The space will be available in the trash for 60 days after which it will be permanently deleted.
