Change your display mode in Jira Product Discovery and sync across other apps
Use display mode to choose how Jira Product Discovery and other supported Atlassian apps look. The mode can be set to light, dark, or match system. You can set a global display mode that syncs across supported apps, or set a different mode just for Jira Product Discovery.
These settings only apply to you, and won’t affect anyone else working on your space or site. You can override this for Jira (or any supported app) at any time.
This feature is rolling out gradually. If you don’t see these options, they aren’t available on your site yet.
How display mode works
There are three layers that control how Jira Product Discovery and other supported apps look:
Your device’s system theme
Your computer or mobile device will be synced to this setting by default
Jira Product Discovery and other supported apps will match your system theme automatically unless you change the setting for an individual app
Global display mode (recommended)
Your personal setting that applies the same display mode across supported Atlassian apps
Set to match system by default
Managed from the Display settings page
App display mode (for example, Jira Product Discovery)
Lets you set a different mode for a specific app, overriding the global setting
Managed from the Appearance setting in the top navigation
For example, let’s say your system theme is set to dark mode, and you like using most Atlassian apps in dark mode, but you prefer to use Jira Product Discovery in light mode.
Your global display mode is set to match system by default, so Jira and other supported apps follow your system's dark mode settings.
In Jira Product Discovery, you change the app display mode to light.
In this setup, Jira Product Discovery always appears in light mode, while Jira and your other supported apps keep using dark mode through the global setting.
Supported apps
Jira
Jira Service Management
Jira Product Discovery
Confluence
Platform apps: Home, Teams, Projects, Goals
Rovo apps: Search, Chat, Studio
Global display mode applies to mobile web (for example, using a phone browser). Native mobile apps are not currently supported.
Change your Jira Product Discovery display mode
Use Jira Product Discovery’s app display mode when you want Jira Product Discovery to look different from your other Atlassian apps. If Jira Product Discovery is using your global display mode, you’ll see ‘Synced across apps’ under the synced preference.
To change your app display mode:
Select your profile avatar in the top navigation, then select Appearance.
Under App display mode, select Match system, Light, or Dark.
Changes apply immediately.
This setting only affects Jira Product Discovery. Other supported Atlassian apps keep using the global display mode (or their own app display mode, if you’ve set one there).
Change your global display mode
Use global display mode when you want a consistent look and feel across multiple Atlassian apps.
To change your global display mode from Jira Product Discovery:
Select your profile avatar in the top navigation, then select Appearance.
Select Customize display settings.
On the Display settings page, under Global display mode, select Match system, Light, or Dark.
Your selection applies to all supported apps that use the global setting.
To turn off global sync, either set the global display mode to light or dark (instead of match system), or set a different app display mode in an individual app like Jira Product Discovery.
