Visibility of Atlassian teams information
Atlassian teams are only visible to people with accounts in the same organization or access to the site where the team was created.
When you create an Atlassian team, users will be able to find and see this team. Who can see Atlassian teams?
This includes:
TeamID
Team membership
Team description
Team profile cards
Team profile page
People in your organization can:
see if your team is included in @mentions
assign issues to your team
find your team in search results
For users outside your organization, no information about your team will be shown except for the team name in some rare instances (such as when it’s included in a public project or document).
Users with access only to open sites can't use Atlassian teams
Some Atlassian sites are configured as ‘open sites’, meaning anyone on the internet can join and work with your projects or pages without admin approval. Anyone who has public or anonymous access to your apps won’t see anything about your team, except in rare scenarios, such as when it’s included in a public project or document.
This is to prevent the potential leak of information about users and teams to anyone on the internet. We recommend configuring your site settings so that it's not open to anyone on the internet without admin approval.
For Advanced Roadmaps users, there are additional limitations on teams use in place.
View all team activity in audit logs
Organization admins can monitor changes to a team in the organization audit log. These changes are categorized under “Team management”. Currently, audit logs are only available with an Atlassian Guard plan, with additional events and user activity logs available with Atlassian Guard Premium.
The following events are captured in the audit log under the ‘team management’ category:
Created team
Deleted team
Renamed team
Restored team
Added user to team
Removed user from team
Linked team to group
Unlinked team from group
Changed to managed team
Changed team description*
Requested to join team*
*These events are only viewable with the Atlassian Guard Premium plan.
For more detailed information about audit logs, see the audit log activities database.
