Create status updates with Rovo
Coming soon: Rovo features for project and goal status updates are now in beta and are gradually rolling out from October.
Rovo helps you and your team work more effectively by pulling recent activity from your connected apps and turning it into a structured draft status update, making it easier to keep stakeholders informed early and often. Powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning, Rovo is integrated directly into our cloud‑based Atlassian products.
Rovo helps you draft clear, consistent status updates for your Atlassian projects and goals, so teams spend less time writing and more time delivering work. Projects and goals are designed to keep everyone in sync through short, high‑signal updates - often just a handful of bullet points that highlight progress, new risks, and major blockers. Use Rovo to draft status updates
The Draft with Rovo experience for status updates is currently in beta, and we’ll continue to make changes and improvements to the feature.
Go to the Updates tab for a goal or project you want to write an update for.
Choose a template to set the structure of your update in the dropdown next to the Draft with Rovo button in the update composer, see Choose a template for your update below.
Select Draft with Rovo in the update composer.
Wait while Rovo drafts an insightful update for you.
Review the content and make sure it is accurate. Then, save the update as a draft or publish it.
Choose a template for your update
A template sets the structure Rovo uses when it drafts your update. Choose the template that matches who you're writing for, so you spend less time reshaping the draft afterwards.
Go to the goal or project you want to write an update for.
On the Updates tab, open the update composer.
Select the dropdown next to “Draft with Rovo”, then choose a template.
Select Draft with Rovo. Rovo writes your update using the structure of the template you chose.
To use the same template every time, you can set it as your default. These are the available templates for Projects:
Delivery update: Report on recent activity, risks, blockers, and progress toward delivery. Use this to give stakeholders a clear view of the delivery status.
This week, next week: Summarize recent updates and what’s planned next. Use this to show progress and set stakeholder expectations for the week ahead.
And for Goals:
High-level summary: Summarize progress, highlights, decisions, launches, and risks. Use this to give stakeholders a clear overview of the most important details.
Key result rollup: Summarize progress, updates, and risks across all key results. Use this to give stakeholders a scannable overview of objective status.
Use Rovo to shorten a status update
For easier readability, Rovo can shorten your status update while keeping the key details and intent intact.
Go to the project or goal you want to write an update for.
On the Updates tab, write your update as you normally would.
Select the Shorten button in the toolbar of the update composer and wait while Rovo shortens your update.
