Goals and Projects capabilities in Strategy Collection

Goals and Projects are platform apps included with every Atlassian cloud plan. All customers can create, track, and share goals and projects.

Starting in August 2026, some new capabilities in Goals and Projects will require a Strategy Collection license. Strategy Collection is a set of apps designed for organizations that coordinate strategy, governance, and portfolio planning at scale. Nothing is being removed from your current experience, and Atlassian continues to release new features for all customers.

This page explains what's included for all customers, which capabilities require Strategy Collection, and what happens if a Strategy Collection license ends.

What's included for all customers

Core Goals and Projects features remain available to all customers, and Atlassian continues to release new features for all customers. Capabilities that require Strategy Collection are new additions, not existing features moving behind a license.

Capabilities that require Strategy Collection

The following capabilities require a Strategy Collection license:

• Manage app permissions at the group level (available late August 2026): Centrally control user permissions across Goals and Projects using groups, simplifying governance and permission management at scale.e

More capabilities will be added to this list as they become available.

Do product editions unlock these capabilities?

No. Your Jira or Confluence plan (Standard, Premium, or Enterprise) determines the features available in those products. As platform apps, Goals and Projects are included with all plans and don't have edition tiers of their own. Strategy Collection capabilities require a Strategy Collection license, regardless of which product editions your organization has.

What happens if your Strategy Collection license ends

If your organization moves to a plan without Strategy Collection, your data and configuration are preserved:

• Any data or configuration created with a Strategy Collection capability is retained in full and continues to be enforced.

• You can no longer change the configuration of these capabilities. You can only remove the configuration or return it to the default setting.

• Core Goals and Projects features aren't affected.
