Login issues related to an incorrect email address error

You may see an error similar to the following when logging in to a product with an email address that doesn't match the Atlassian account we expect.

We’re unable to log you in to [product name] with y@email.com. To continue, select Try again and use x@email.com.

We display this error for a few different reasons.

You’re getting or signing up for an Atlassian account

In this case, we’re expecting the email address associated with the account we’re migrating or setting up. To be able to log in:

  1. Select Try again to return to the log in screen.

  2. You can either select to continue with Google, Microsoft, Apple, or Slack, or you can create a password for your account and select Sign up.

You’re logging in with a different social account

In this case, you may or may not already be logged in to multiple social accounts (Google, Microsoft, etc.) and try logging in with one we don’t expect. To be able to log in:

  1. Select Try again to return to the log in screen.

  2. You can select to continue with Google, Microsoft, Apple, or Slack.

  3. If you continue to get this error, you’ll need to enter a password for your Atlassian account. Enter your password and select Log in. If you don’t remember your password or never set one, select Can’t log in? to reset your password.

You’re logging in through single sign-on (SSO) with a different email address

In this case, you tried logging in with a different email address from the one we’re expecting. To be able to log in:

  1. Select Try again to go to the SSO login screen for your identity provider.

  2. Enter your account information for the email address mentioned in the error message.
