What is Rovo memory management?

Rovo memory management gives you visibility and control over what Rovo knows about you.

When enabled, you can see a summary of what Rovo has identified from your Atlassian activity through the Teamwork Graph, as well as any specific facts Rovo has noted from your conversations. You can view, edit, and manage both.

Memory management is designed around two principles: transparency (you can always see what Rovo knows about you) and control (you decide what instructions get saved or removed, and you can suggest changes to your activity summary generated by the Teamwork Graph).

How Rovo memories work

Rovo memory works in two ways:

• Implicit memory. Rovo builds a summary of you based on your Teamwork Graph activity across Atlassian products. You can suggest edits to the Rovo summary, but you can't remove details directly.

• Explicit memory. Rovo captures specific instructions you share during a chat, such as "Remember that I prefer direct answers." These are fully within your control. You can view, edit, or delete them at any time.

Each memory is scoped to you and to the specific Atlassian site you're using. Memories on one site are separate from memories on another.

How to know if Rovo saved a new memory instruction

If Rovo has just saved a new explicit memory during the conversation, it will show you a link to edit it directly.

Keep in mind, this only applies to explicit memories. Responses shaped by your Teamwork Graph summary won't be surfaced in the same way.

Manage Rovo memories

In Settings and memory, you can:

• View your activity summary and saved instructions.

• Suggest edits to your activity summary. Changes are applied within 24 hours.

• Delete an explicit memory. Once deleted, Rovo behaves as if that fact never existed.

Privacy and visibility

Only you can see your memories. Other users, including organization admins, can't view the facts Rovo has stored about you.

When memory is turned off, Rovo will not store new explicit memories or use existing memories to personalize your answers.

Edit your Rovo memory settings

To manage your memory settings:

1. In Rovo Chat, select More actions () in the top right of the panel.

2. Select Settings and memory.

From there, you can toggle memory on or off, view your activity summary and saved instructions, suggest edits to your summary, and delete explicit memories.
