Use Rovo in Loom
Rovo AI is now built into Loom
The video then shows Rovo chat inside a Loom, where you can ask for summaries, exact moments, and key action items and decisions, including an option to chat in full screen mode.
Rovo, Atlassian’s AI teammate, is built directly into Loom to help you unlock the knowledge inside your team's videos. With Rovo in Loom, you can search across video transcripts and organizational context, chat with your videos to extract insights, and turn video conversations into actionable next steps without leaving Loom.
What Rovo brings to Loom
Rovo-Powered Search (0 Credits / included on paid Loom plans): Search across your entire Loom video library, transcripts, and connected Atlassian tools. Find specific moments, spoken phrases, and topics quickly.
Rovo Chat (uses credits): Chat with an individual video or your broader workspace to get instant summaries, pull out action items, answer questions, or draft follow-up tickets and docs.
Cross-Tool Context: Connect your tools (like Jira, Confluence, Slack, and Google Drive) through the Teamwork Graph to bridge video knowledge with the rest of your work.
Where to access Rovo in Loom
You can use Rovo from multiple surfaces across Loom:
On any video’s watch/share page:
Select the floating Rovo button on the right side of the video player.
In fullscreen mode, open Rovo from the control bar alongside the emoji and comment actions. This opens the contextual Rovo Chat side panel, scoped specifically to the video you are viewing.
From your Loom Library/Home:
Select the Search bar to run natural-language queries across all video transcripts and metadata.
Key use cases and examples
Search across videos and connected tools
Search across videos: Find exact moments, spoken dialog, or topics within your Loom video library without having to scrub through hours of footage.
Example: Search for "Q4 pricing strategy discussion" to surface every video where pricing is mentioned, with timestamps that jump straight to the exact moments in the recording.
Search across all Atlassian apps and connected third-party tools: Run unified natural-language queries to discover knowledge spanning Loom videos, Jira work items, Confluence pages, and connected tools like Google Drive, Slack, and Figma via the Teamwork Graph.
Example: Ask a broad question like "What is our updated expense policy?" to get an AI-generated answer citing both the Confluence policy doc and the HR team's Loom briefing video.
For video viewers
Get instant summaries: Ask Rovo: "Summarize the key decisions and discussion points from this video."
Extract action items: Ask Rovo: "What tasks were assigned to each person, and what are the next steps?"
Jump to exact moments: Ask a question like "Where is the billing dashboard setup demonstrated?" and Rovo returns the answer with direct selectable timestamp links.
Ask detailed questions: Query specific numbers or details spoken in the video: "What was the Q3 ARR growth figure mentioned in the presentation?"
Get answers across your library: Ask a question like "What is our vacation policy?" and Rovo Search returns an AI summary drawn from the relevant videos and connected tools.
For video creators
Draft titles and descriptions: Let Rovo suggest concise, engaging video titles and structured descriptions based on your transcript.
Auto-generate chapters and highlights: Generate structured chapter markers for easier viewer navigation.
Draft follow-up comms: Ask: "Draft an email recap of this Loom walkthrough to send to our stakeholders.”
Rovo suggests and drafts this content for you (for example, recommending chapter markers or a title) — you review and apply the changes. Rovo does not automatically modify your Loom on your behalf.
Connect video to work (Jira and Confluence)
Create Jira work items from video feedback: Turn a video bug report into a structured Jira ticket with steps to reproduce.
Draft a Confluence page: Convert a video design walkthrough or meeting recording into a structured spec or meeting notes page.
How billing and Rovo credits work in Loom
Rovo search is available to Loom Business plans and higher and does not consume Rovo credits.
Rovo chat usage follows Atlassian’s Usage-Based Pricing (UBP) model:
Rovo Search uses 0 credits: Searching across Loom videos, moments, and titles is included in your plan and never consumes credits, regardless of volume.
Rovo Chat consumes Rovo credits: Rovo Chat interactions use monthly Rovo credits. Credits are pooled at the organization level and shared across all users.
Included monthly credit allowances
Allowances reset at the start of each monthly billing cycle. Unused credits don'ot roll over.
Loom Plan | Included Monthly Allowance |
|---|---|
Loom Business + AI | 70 Rovo credits per user/month |
Loom Enterprise | 150 Rovo credits per user/month |
Teamwork Collection (includes Loom, Jira, Confluence, Rovo) | 700 – 1,500 Rovo credits per user/month |
Managing your credits and extra usage
Organization and billing admins have complete control over AI usage and overages:
Monitor usage: View consumption, allowance trends, and export CSV usage data in Atlassian Administration. Go to Usage, select Meters, then Rovo credits.
Control Extra Usage: Admins can disable extra usage or set a monthly spending limit to ensure team workflows run smoothly without unexpected charges.
Automatic Alerts: Admins receive automatic email notifications when credit consumption reaches 80% and 100% of the included allowance.
