Disconnect an identity provider for your users

When you disconnect an identity provider, we delete its directory; move the users from the directory to the default authentication policy in the local directory; and move any linked domains to the local directory.

Before you can disconnect your identity provider, you need to:

  • Delete SAML configuration

  • Delete user provisioning configuration

You can also:

  • Link domains to a different directory

To disconnect your identity provider:

  1. Go to Atlassian Administration. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Security > Identity providers.

  3. Select Directory for the identity provider you’d like to disconnect.

  4. Select View SAML > Delete configuration to delete SAML.

  5. Select Delete configuration to delete user provisioning.

  6. Select View domains > Link to a different directory.

  7. Select Disconnect identity provider.

How to disconnect an identity provider for Atlassian Government Cloud

Before you disconnect an identity provider in an Atlassian Government environment, make sure no users are still in that identity provider. This is to prevent users from syncing to the local directory and becoming members of an authentication policy where SAML single sign-on isn’t enabled. You may need to connect another identity provider before disconnecting the current identity provider.
