Transfer Loom workspace admin rights
Transfer Loom workspace admin rights to a new user if the previous administrator is no longer with your organization, and their email is deactivated or inaccessible.
Option 1: Recreate the previous admin’s email address
The primary method for regaining access is to temporarily recreate the former admin's email address or add the previous admin’s email as an alias to an active employee’s email through your IT department to reset the Loom password.
Contact your IT administrator or domain owner to recreate the former admin's email address as an inbox or alias in your domain system.
Select the appropriate password reset link for the account type:
If the account is on Loom legacy systems, use Loom’s password reset option.
If the account is Atlassian-managed, use Atlassian’s password reset system.
Follow the prompts to set a new password for the recreated email.
Log in to Loom using the recreated email address and the new password.
Once you are able to access the old admin’s account, you can make any other user in the workspace an admin to take over admin privileges.Read how to manage users in Loom
If the user you are turning into an admin did not previously have a paid seat, then making them an admin will result in future prorated charges.
Deactivating or removing the old admin will not avoid “free up” a paid seat or help avoid prorated charges for the new admin seat.Read more about Loom's billing policy
Option 2: Use alternative verification
If your IT team can’t recreate the email, Loom Support can use alternative methods of verifying ownership over the account or workspace. They can work with you to regain access and control of the workspace. File a Support ticket if you need to reclaim the existing workspace and creating a new workspace is not possible:
Within Loom, select the ? in the bottom right of your screen.
Select Contact Support.
Fill out all fields, and provide details, including the workspace you need to reclaim, and explain why email recreation is not possible.
When complete, select Send message.
Option 3: Create a new workspace
If ownership of an existing workspace can’t be verified, you can move your active team members and content to a new workspace.
Create a new Loom workspace.
Invite the active members from the previous workspace to the new one.
Have teammates use Loom’s Content Transfer Guide to move their videos from the old workspace to the new one.
