Remove the 5-minute recording limit
If you encounter a 5-minute recording limit despite having a paid Loom subscription, it is usually because you are logged into the wrong account on your recorder, or your default workspace is a free workspace.
To record longer videos, you must ensure your active session is associated with the workspace that holds your paid subscription.
The 5-minute recording limit applies to the free Starter plan or workspaces with limited user roles (e.g., Creator Lite).
If you were on a trial subscription that ended, your account may have reverted to the free plan. You’ll need to upgrade again to restore unlimited recording.
If you are part of multiple workspaces, ensure the correct workspace is set as your default.
Confirm your subscription and workspace
Verify which workspace and role you are currently using:
Log in to your Loom account on the web.
Select your profile icon in the top right corner.
Review the dropdown menu to see your current role and workspace.
Change your default workspace
If you are a member of multiple workspaces, ensure your paid workspace is set as your default workspace.
Your default workspace controls where your videos are automatically stored and the features you have access to on your recordings.
Navigate to Personal settings.
Scroll to Manage on Loom.
Select the dropdown menu under Default workspace.
Select the workspace associated with your paid plan.
Sign out and back in
If the limit persists after changing workspaces, refresh your session across all platforms.
Log out of all Loom platforms, including the web dashboard, desktop app, and Chrome extension.
The desktop app can be signed into a different account and has separate session management from the web or the Chrome extension. You must manually log out of the desktop app to start a fresh session.
To log out, go to More, then Settings, then Preferences, and then Sign Out.
Reopen Loom.com.
Select Sign in and enter the email address linked to your paid subscription.
