Manually regenerate transcripts or edit AI features
Loom automatically identifies the language of a video based on the first 30 seconds of audio. This detection informs the generation of AI features, including titles, transcripts, summaries, and captions.
When a recording contains multiple languages, background noise, or specific accents, you can manually adjust the language settings to align the AI-generated content with the video's intended language.
Users can’t set a default language for all videos; each video is processed based on the first 30 seconds of audio.
Loom detects one language per video. Read about multi-language transcription
Users can’t upload external subtitle files to Loom.
If your transcript’s language does not match the language spoken in the Loom. Follow these steps to correct the transcript:
Open the Loom video.
Select the Transcript tab.
Select the three-dot menu, then select Language.
Choose the video’s spoken language from the list.
Select Regenerate. Loom will refresh the transcript and AI features using the selected language.
Note: This doesn’t guarantee that the language selected will be used in the resulting transcript. Instead, it prompts the language detection system to use the selected language, improving its accuracy.
Manually edit AI features (title, summary, chapters)
If the title, summary, or chapters are incorrect or showing the wrong language, edit them manually in video settings.
Use tools like Google Translate if needed to assist with translating an incorrect language.
Download and re-upload a video to regenerate AI features
This only works for paid Loom accounts and paid roles.
For paid accounts, you can download your video and then re-upload it to your Loom library. Downloading and re-uploading prompts Loom to perform a new round of AI language detection, which can help align the generated transcripts and summaries with your intended language.
Once the upload is complete, you can review the new AI features to ensure they accurately reflect the spoken content of your video.
