Fix how your video previews in your social media post
If you share a Loom video to Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn, and then change the video's title or thumbnail, this may not be reflected on the social post immediately.
This is due to how these platforms cache your video's metadata. To fix this, you can use the tools provided by each social network. In this article, we'll show you how.
How to fix wrong video metadata
If you want to make sure the right title and thumbnail show when you share your Loom video on Facebook, enter the video URL into this Facebook debug tool. This will immediately update the cached title and description.
If you want to make sure the right title and thumbnail show when others share your video on Twitter, enter the video URL in the Twitter Card Validator. This will immediately update the cached title and description.
If you want to make sure the right title and thumbnail show when others share your Loom video on LinkedIn, enter the video URL into LinkedIn Post Inspector. This will immediately update the cached title and description.
Workaround for other platforms
If the site you're using, such as Google Classroom, doesn't have the developer tools available to rectify this caching issue, here's what you can do:
Open your video and select the duplicate icon. You'll see the it below your video.
Your duplicate video will then appear at the top of your Library. Rename your duplicated video correctly.
Repost this new link to your preferred platform and the title and preview will now display correctly.
How can I avoid this for future recordings?
Make sure your video has fully processed before sharing.
Set your video's privacy settings to public.
Make sure you're happy with your title and thumbnail before posting to your socials.
