Set up Rovo Dev Agents

Rovo Dev Agents is currently in beta.

Rovo Dev Agents sends relevant code snippets to third-party LLM providers to generate responses. Before installing and using Rovo Dev Agents, check your repositories and remove any secret or sensitive information you don’t want shared. During the beta program we retain user inputs and Rovo Dev Agent outputs to help with customer support and troubleshooting.

To set up all the Rovo Dev Agents, you must install the app on your Atlassian site, connect a source code management tool to Jira (like Bitbucket or GitHub), and add users to permission groups.

Install Rovo Dev Agents on your Atlassian site

You need site administrator permissions to install Rovo Dev Agents on your site.

  1. Go to the Rovo Dev Agents get started page.

  2. Log in with your Atlassian details, or sign up and create a new site. If you already have multiple Atlassian sites, select the site you want to install Rovo Dev Agents on.

  3. Select Agree and start now.

  4. Once the installation is complete, select Go to Rovo Dev Agents.

This is all that is required to use Rovo Dev CLI. To use other Rovo Dev Agents on your site, connect a source code management app and add users to permission groups.

Connect a source code management app to Jira

To use some Rovo Dev Agents, you must have Bitbucket Cloud or GitHub Cloud connected to your Jira site.

How to connect Bitbucket to Jira

How to connect GitHub to Jira

To use Rovo Dev Agents with Bitbucket, your workspace must be part of a premium or standard plan.

Rovo Dev Agents do not currently support GitHub Cloud IP allow listing.

Add users to Rovo Dev Agent permission groups

You can add users to permission groups in Rovo Dev Agents to let them perform different tasks. By default, you can:

  • Add users to the rovo-dev-agents-admins group to give them product administrator access, so they can do things like activate agents in Bitbucket workspaces and GitHub organizations.

  • Add users to the rovo-dev-users group to give them user access, so they can use agents like Code Planner or coding agents in Jira.

To add an existing user to a Rovo Dev Agents permission group:

  1. Go to Atlassian Administration.

  2. If you have multiple organizations, select the one you want to update permissions for.

  3. Select Directory from the top navigation.

  4. Find the user you want to add to a permission group, then select Actions (…) and Add user to group.

  5. In the pop-up, search for rovo-dev-agents in the Group name field and select the permissions group you want to add the user to.

  6. Repeat step 4 for as many permission groups as you want to add the user to.

  7. Select Add groups to save your changes.

If you want to add a user to a Rovo Dev Agents permission group but they’re not a part of your organization yet, you can invite them and add them to permission groups at the same time. To do this:

  1. Go to Atlassian Administration.

  2. If you have multiple organizations, select the one you want to update permissions for.

  3. Select Directory from the top navigation.

  4. Select Invite users.

  5. Enter the addresses of your invitees in the Email addresses field.

  6. In the Group membership field, search for rovo-dev-agents in and select the permissions group you want to add the user to.

  7. Double-check all details on this page, then select Invite users.

You can quickly access your organization’s user list by selecting Manage user access from the Rovo Dev Agents settings page. To get there, go to Atlassian Administration, select Apps (or Products) in the top navigation, select your site name, then select Rovo Dev Agents.

When adding or removing a user's access to Rovo Dev Agents, there might be a small delay (about 5 minutes) before the change takes effect. If you are removing a user’s access, they will still be able to access the agents during this delay.
