Track progress using estimates in your plan

This page refers to the advanced planning features that are only available as part of Jira Cloud Premium and Enterprise.

The Progress (story points or days) column shows progress towards completing an issue by comparing the amount of work completed (in the estimation units of your choosing) against the total estimated value of its child issues. Unlike when tracking progress by issue count in your plan, this method of tracking progress includes estimates from child issues in all hierarchy levels, not just those directly beneath the selected one.

It also includes a breakdown of Estimated and Unestimated issues, the latter of which which may impact the accuracy of your progress. These numbers include issues that are hidden from your current plan view using filters.

If you've enabled rolled-up values in a plan, you may see inconsistent values between rolled-up estimates of a parent issue and the values in the progress bar. Learn how roll-ups work in your plan.

To get a more detailed breakdown, hover on the progress bar to show a flyout window:

Monitor estimate-based progress of issues from your timeline in Advanced Roadmaps for Jira Software Cloud.

You can also track progress from the Summary tab on the left side navigation. Read more about the Summary page.
