Rovo Dev rollout

Starting in October 2025, we’re launching Rovo Dev, our powerful AI agent that reduces friction across the entire software delivery lifecycle.

After months of beta testing, we've seen Rovo Dev help developers catch bugs earlier, write code faster, and spend less time on routine tasks - and now we're excited to bring it to your team.

There are currently two main ways to use Rovo Dev:

  • Rovo Dev CLI brings Rovo Dev into your terminal to generate code, help you understand your codebase, manage Jira work items, and more. Read about Rovo Dev CLI

  • Rovo Dev code reviews in Bitbucket and GitHub analyze pull requests and give suggestions for improvements. Read about Rovo Dev code review

You'll have control over the features your team can access. Turn Rovo Dev CLI and Rovo Dev code reviews on or off independently to match your workflow.

We're working on more ways for you to use Rovo Dev and, as these new features enter beta, you'll have the option to try them out early.

Eligibility

Starting in mid-October, Rovo Dev is gradually rolling out to sites with Jira Standard or Premium plans at no extra cost.

We'll email you when your site or organization is ready to get started using Rovo Dev. If you are an administrator for multiple organizations, you will receive a separate email for each one as its rollout approaches.

We're exploring ways to bring Rovo Dev to more teams and will share updates as our plans develop.

Billing and Rovo Dev credits

Rovo Dev uses Rovo Dev credits to track usage across different features. Rovo Dev credits can only be used for Rovo Dev.

They are separate to AI credits, which are used for Rovo.

We’ll share more detailed information, including pricing and credit allocations, closer to launch.

Credit allocations

When Rovo Dev rolls out to your site, each user gets an allocation of 350 Rovo Dev credits at no extra cost. When a user runs out of credits, they can’t use Rovo Dev features until the next billing cycle.

Your Rovo Dev credits should typically cover about 4–15 code reviews per user, or 1–10 tasks in Rovo Dev CLI per user. More complex tasks require more credits.

This lets your team try Rovo Dev, and you don’t have to worry about unexpected charges.

Upgrading users to Rovo Dev Standard

If your team runs out of Rovo Dev credits, you can individually upgrade users to Rovo Dev Standard.

With Standard, users get a larger allocation of 2,000 Rovo Dev credits, replacing their existing 350 credit allocation.

Rovo Dev Standard users also get the option to keep using Rovo Dev once their credit allocation runs out (with extra, usage-based charges). You can set limits per-site to control extra usage.

Automatic activation

We’ll email you ahead of time to let you know that we’re adding Rovo Dev to your sites.

By default, we automatically activate Rovo Dev so your team can use it straight away. If you need more time to prepare, or you prefer to control when your team gets access, you can disable automatic activation.

We’ll still add Rovo Dev to your site, but your team won't see Rovo Dev features until you manually activate it, so you control the timing of the rollout.

Use the link in our email to disable automatic activation, or:

  1. Go to Atlassian Administration.

  2. Select Settings in the top navigation.

  3. In the sidebar under AI settings, select AI-enabled apps.

  4. Select the Rovo Dev tab.

  5. Toggle off Automatic activation.

Privacy and security

The LLM providers used for Rovo Dev do not store your inputs and outputs, or use that data to improve their services.

While Rovo Dev is built to our high standards of trust and security, it hasn’t been externally audited for ISO 27001 and SOC 2 compliance yet.

At this time, Rovo Dev is not HIPAA compliant and our Business Associate Agreement (BAA) does not cover the use of Rovo Dev. At this time, Rovo Dev does not support data residency.
