Represent your organization's hierarchy with teams
Representing your organization’s structure in Atlassian makes it easier to manage teams, clarify reporting lines, and support cross-team collaboration. To do so, you can set parent and sub-team relationships between each team and mirror your real-world team hierarchy.
Hierarchy rules:
A parent team can have up to 25 sub-teams.
Each team can only have one parent.
A team can’t end up being its own parent or sub-team, directly or indirectly.
Set a parent or sub-team for a team
Anyone with edit permission for a team can set parent and sub-team relationships for that team.
To set a parent or sub-team relationship for a team:
Go to the team’s profile page.
In the Details section, select the Parent team or Sub-teams fields.
Select the appropriate parent or sub-team from the dropdown menu.
Tip: Once your organization’s structure is set up, you can filter by larger teams and their sub-teams in Atlassian Analytics.
Remove a parent or sub-team from a team
Anyone with edit permission for a team can remove parent and sub-team relationships from that team.
To remove a parent or sub-team relationship from a team:
Go to the team’s profile page.
In the Details section, select the Parent team field.
Select Remove linked team.
To remove a sub-team relationship from a team:
Go to the team’s profile page.
In the Details section, select the Sub-teams field.
Uncheck the sub-teams you want to remove.
