Install and run Rovo Dev in the IDE
To use Rovo Dev in your Integrated Development Environment (IDE), you must install and authenticate the Atlassian extension for Visual Studio Code (VS Code).
Before you begin
Before you install and run Rovo Dev in your IDE:
Install VS Code or a VS Code-compatible IDE like Cursor on your computer.
Make sure one of your Jira sites has Rovo Dev activated and you have available Rovo Dev credit allowance.

Install the Atlassian extension for VS Code
Install the Atlassian extension for VS Code using any of the following methods:
Use the link specific to your IDE to install directly.
To install for VS Code, use
vscode://atlassian.atlascode/rovoDevTo install for Cursor, use
cursor://atlassian.atlascode/rovoDev
In the VS Code activity bar, select Extensions, search for Atlassian: Jira, Rovo Dev, Bitbucket, then select Install.
Install the Atlassian extension for VS Code from the VS Code Marketplace.
Once installed, you’ll see the Atlassian and Rovo Dev items in the VS Code activity bar.
Authenticate for Rovo Dev
To use Rovo Dev in your IDE, authenticate with an API token:
From the VS Code activity bar, select Rovo Dev.
Select a Jira site, or enter its URL in the format
yoursite.atlassian.net.Enter your email address.
Select Create next to the Rovo Dev API token field. This opens your Atlassian profile and automatically generates a correctly scoped API token for Rovo Dev.
Select Create token.
Select Copy to copy the token to your clipboard.
Return to your IDE and paste the API token.
Select Sign in.
To confirm setup, enter a prompt to check if Rovo Dev is ready. If needed, Rovo Dev automatically downloads and initializes the files it requires in your development environment. When setup is complete, you can start using Rovo Dev in IDE.
