Archive a team

We recommend archiving over deleting as archiving keeps historical connections and data.

Archiving a team

Archiving a team helps you keep your workspace organized by hiding teams that are no longer active. All of the team’s work, history, and references remain accessible. This means you don’t lose any important information. You simply remove inactive teams from everyday views.

Once you’ve archived a team:

  • The team profile becomes read-only and visually marked as Archived.

  • The team is hidden from pickers, mentions, and search by default.

  • All links to work (issues, projects, goals, etc.) remain intact.

  • Team members are notified when a team is archived.

  • The team can be restored at any time.

  • They can be found in the Archived teams tab in the Teams directory.

  • You cannot assign new work to an archived team.

When a team is archived, it will show a grey team avatar and a grey ‘archived’ lozenge next to the team name.

Team hierarchy

When you archive a team that’s part of a team hierarchy (with parent or child teams):

  • If the team has only child teams, those child teams will no longer have a parent.

  • If the team has only a parent team, that parent will no longer have this team as a child.

  • If the team has both a parent and child teams, the child teams will be moved up and connected to the grandparent team.

When you unarchive a team in a team hierarchy, the original team hierarchy will not be reinstated.
