Stay connected when mobile
Use Opsgenie to receive notifications for critical alerts via SMS, phone calls, and iPhone & Android push notifications, and respond to alerts directly from a mobile device using Opsgenie apps. Since Opsgenie is a cloud-based service accessible from anywhere, users don't have to have access to the corporate network (which is often) to be able to work with Zyrion Traverse alerts.
Consolidated alert & notification management
Zyrion Traverse users leverage Opsgenie to aggregate and manage alerts not only from Zyrion Traverse but also from other sources. Opsgenie enables users to maintain their own notifications information and preferences, eliminating the burden to keep this information current and accurate in multiple disparate tools.
Alert lifecycle management
For Zyrion Traverse users, the Opsgenie integration provides full alert lifecycle management capabilities. Use Opsgenie to not only receive notifications for critical problems detected by Zyrion Traverse but also acknowledge alerts, take or assign ownership of the alerts, comment on them, etc. rapidly no matter when and where they may receive the alerts. Opsgenie keeps track of all alert activity seamlessly: when the alert was created, who was notified when and how, whether and when recipients have seen the alert, acknowledged it, who executed which action, etc. Opsgenie can also automatically close alerts when host/service comes back up.
Alerts that empower
A short text message (SMS) typically used to notify users often fails to convey sufficient information to enable the recipients to assess the problem and determine the right course of action. Opsgenie alerts are not limited to couple hundred characters of text, includes many fields, tags, and attached files. Recipients can not only see the alert message but all the supporting information, charts, etc. and figure out what to do next. Attach any relevant information to the alert and make it available to the recipients, either via the API or the web UI.
Bi-directional integration
When users update alerts in Opsgenie, Opsgenie forwards user actions to Zyrion Traverse using action execution capabilities and OEC (Opsgenie Edge Connector). For example, when a user acknowledges an alert using an Opsgenie app (iPhone/Android/Web), Opsgenie makes a call to the Zyrion Traverse server (using OEC) to acknowledge the alert in Zyrion Traverse as well.
Opsgenie provides a number of easy to use integration methods (email, API, command line tools, programming libraries, etc.) to ensure all monitoring tools are integrated with Opsgenie easily. Traverse has a very flexible action and notification engine capable of forwarding alerts in a number of different ways.
Via Email
Traverse can deliver alerts via email. Use the integration to forward Traverse alerts to Opsgenie to notify users. Zyrion documentation describes how to configure Traverse email alerts. Opsgenie can process these emails, create alerts in Opsgenie and notify users as described here.
Using Opsgenie Lamp command line utility
Traverse provides a strong plugin framework that allows custom action development. These custom plugin actions seamlessly integrate with the Traverse Action Policy module which allows notification policies controlled by time of day, number of polls before activation, etc. Opsgenie lamp is a command line interface (CLI) tool to work with Opsgenie web API from shell scripts. Traverse custom action plugin can be used to execute a shell script to create alerts in Opsgenie using Opsgenie lamp tool. To use Lamp, create an API Integration.
Via Opsgenie Web API
Opsgenie has a simple web based API. To use the web API, create an API Integration. Traverse alerts can be forwarded to Opsgenie using the web API from any programming language or utility like cURL as described in the API documentation.
