Manage user permissions

User permissions are how you can control who can take actions in Talent.

Talent provides two ways to manage permissions based on users:

  1. Managers - automatically identified based on reporting line data in Talent.

  2. User groups - groups with the Talent user role, as created by your organization admin in Atlassian admin.

Talent permissions are currently categorized by:

Allocations

The ability to allocate positions to focus areas, either for managers for their reporting line, or based on groups who can allocate for any reporting line.

Field visibility

Control who can see fields at each level of visibility (open, restricted, private), which you set on the fields themselves in Fields.

Export position data

The ability to export position data.

Manage permissions

  1. Select the Settings icon () in the top right corner to open Talent administration.

  2. Select Talent admin settings > Permissions.

  3. For the allocation and fields permissions, determine if managers should be able to allocate for their reporting line or see private and restricted field data on positions that report to them.

  4. Select the toggle to turn the permission on/off.

  5. For all permissions, select the group field picker and see groups you can grant this permission to and select the groups that should be granted this permission.

    1. If a manager is included in the group that is granted access, it overrules the manager toggle setting.

    2. If you don’t see the groups you expect, or need more information about the groups, reach out to your organization admin.
