Set up Data Center for Instance health insights
To use Instance health, you need to complete additional steps to enable data collection and transfer to Portfolio insights.
Cloud side
Completing these prerequisites is required to get access to Portfolio insights.
Create or use an existing Atlassian cloud organization
You'll need an Atlassian cloud organization to access Portfolio insights. You can either:
Use an existing organization
Go to https://admin.atlassian.com.
Sign in with your Atlassian account.
Select your organization if you have multiple.
Create a new organization for free
Open https://admin.atlassian.com/o/create in your web browser.
Sign up or sign in with your Atlassian account
Enter your organization name and select Create.
You'll see a pop-up about a free trial of Guard. This subscription is entirely optional and not required to use Portfolio insights.
Connect your instance to Portfolio insights
Connect your Data Center instance to start automatic data collection and enable Instance health.
Connect to your Data Center instance
Optional: Manual upload of results
If you’re unable to connect your Data Center instance, you can also upload the support.zip file with results.

Completing these prerequisites is required to enable the data collection and transfer the data to Portfolio insights.
Permissions and versions
You need system administrator permissions for Data Center instances.
Works with any supported Data Center version for Jira and Confluence
Install the Cloud companion app
To install the Cloud companion app:
Go to Administration > Manage apps in your Data Center instance.
Select Find new apps.
Search for Cloud companion.
Select Install to add it to your instance.
Update the Atlassian Troubleshooting and Support Tools (ATST) plugin
To update the ATST plugin:
Go to Administration > Manage apps in your Data Center instance.
Search for Atlassian Troubleshooting and Support Tools.
If an update is available, select Update next to the plugin name.
You'll see a confirmation message once the update is complete.
Configure JMX and In-Product Diagnostics (IPD) monitoring
To configure JMX and In-product diagnostics:
Go to Administration > System.
In the left-side panel, go to System Support, and select Monitoring.
Toggle Enable JMX monitoring.
Toggle on IPD monitoring.

Configure network access
To enable data transmission between your Data Center instance and Atlassian Cloud:
Configure the allowlist:
Go to Administration > System > Allowlist.
Add the
https://api.atlassian.comdomain.
Configure your firewall:
Create a new rule to allow TCP connection to api.atlassian.com on port 443.

Enable data transfer to cloud
To enable data transfer:
Go to Administration > System > Troubleshooting and Support tools.
Select the Optimization tab.
Toggle on Enable sending data to cloud
Next steps
After you connect and meet the prerequisites, we’ll start collecting the data. We’ll need at least 1 hour of data collected to show insights related to Instance health. You can check the current progress by looking at the status next to your instance.
