Get started with Portfolio insights
An overview of prerequisites and requirements you’ll need to meet to get started, and the first steps.
Before you begin
Before you can view Portfolio insights, make sure you’ve completed these requirements.
Common requirements
To use Portfolio insights, you'll need:
An Atlassian organization (free to create)
Organization admin permissions in Atlassian Cloud
System admin permissions in your Data Center instances
Create or use an Atlassian organization
You can use Portfolio insights with just an Atlassian organization - no cloud subscriptions needed.
To create a new organization:
Sign in or create an Atlassian account.
Enter your organization name and select Create.
Note: You might see a pop-up about Guard trial - this is optional and not required for Portfolio insights.
If you already have an organization:
Go to admin.atlassian.com and sign in to access your organization.
Other prerequisites and requirements
There are other requirements that differ between our features: Cloud readiness assessments, Instance health insights, or instance detection; mostly related to allowing us to collect data from your instances.
We recommend completing all of them for best experience, but you can also focus on a particular feature you’re interested in. For details, see these prerequisites:
Access Portfolio insights
To access Portfolio insights:
Go to admin.atlassian.com, and select your organization.
Go to Insights > Portfolio insights.
Select the feature you’re interested in: Cloud readiness or Instance health.
Connect your Data Center instance or manually upload a file with results.
Connecting your first instance
You can connect your Data Center instance from any view in Portfolio insights. Once you do, it will also appear in other views. If you’re unable to collect, you can also manually collect and upload the data, both for cloud readiness and instance health.
