Why this migration is necessary for your organization
Currently, your Groups are only visible to users within a specific site, which ensures access is limited to those who need it. In contrast, your Teams are visible to everyone across your entire organization, regardless of which site they belong to.
The difference in visibility can be confusing and makes it harder to manage who can see and interact with each Group or Team, especially as Teams becomes a bigger part of how admins organize and connect people to work.
Why should I migrate?
We’re updating Teams to be visible only within the site they’re assigned to (site-level visibility). This brings several benefits:
Reduces irrelevant Teams: Site-level visibility removes teams that aren’t relevant to a site from your view, making it easier to find and connect the teams that are actually used in specific sites.
Unlocks new features: This change enables upcoming improvements related to Teams and Groups:
Improves consistency: With both Groups and Teams visible at the site level, it’s easier to understand and manage who can see and interact with each group or team.
By making Teams visible at the site level like groups, we’re creating a more consistent and streamlined experience for everyone in your organization, and preparing your Atlassian environment for future improvements.
