Issue transitions control how work flows through your project. They connect your issue type’s statuses and describe the action your team takes when moving issues between statuses. They can also power up your project by performing automated actions.
Issue transitions relate to your issue type’s workflows and you can edit them in the workflow editor. Learn more about workflows in team-managed projects
You must have the administrator role in your project to do manage transitions in a team-managed project. Learn more about team-managed project roles

Your transition appears on the workflow as an arrow connecting your statuses. When you select a status in your workflow, you can view all its transitions in the details panel.
You can add up to 200 transitions to your workflow.
When you’re done editing your issue type’s workflow, select Update workflow and confirm which issue type the workflow will apply to.
Take care when creating transitions that don’t start from Any status. These transitions may cause unintended behavior when people move cards across your board.
If you want different ways of reaching a particular status with the same transition, you can add more From statuses to an existing transition.
Your team might have a standard workflow with these statuses:
To do → In progress → In review → Done
There’s a transition from In review → Done named Complete work that your team wants to use to go from In progress → Done as well. To do this, you can add the In progress status to the Complete work transition.
The transition named Complete work will now look like this: (In progress, In review) → Done.
