Prerequisites for detecting and connecting to your instances
Here are all prerequisites for detecting your Cloud and Data Center instances, and connecting to the instances from your network.
Detecting Cloud and Data Center instances
Prerequisites that improve the initial detection of Cloud and Data Center instances.
Verify your domain for more accurate results (optional)
Verifying your domain allows Portfolio insights to better identify and associate instances within your organization's ecosystem, providing a more comprehensive view of your Atlassian portfolio.
To verify your domain, follow these steps:
Go to admin.atlassian.com and select your organization.
Navigate to Domains (found under Directory or Settings, depending on your user management experience).
Select Verify domain and enter your domain name.
Choose a verification method from these four options: HTTPS, DNS TXT, Google Workspace, or Microsoft Entra ID, and select verify domain.

Update Cloud Migration Assistants
Update the Cloud Migration assistants to the latest versions.
Cloud Migration Assistants are required to detect your instances based on app links. They’re also required for cloud readiness insights, so it’s useful to update them at this point already.
Connecting to Cloud and Data Center instances
Prerequisites for connecting to your portfolio.
Atlassian Cloud products
No prerequisites. We’ll add detected apps to the list, there’s no need to connect to them.
Atlassian Data Center products
To connect to a Data Center instance:
Make sure you have the System Administrator permissions
Install the Cloud Companion app:
Go to Administration > Manage apps.
Select Find new apps.
Search for Cloud companion and install it.
Allowlist this Atlassian domain on your firewall:
Go to Administration > System > Allowlist.
Add the following domain:
https://api.atlassian.com
.Select Update to save your changes. For more details, see Configuring the allowlist.
