About Jira Product Discovery
Transform product ideas into business impact.
The matrix view allows you to visually compare scoring combinations, such as comparing the value an idea brings against the effort it takes to execute it. It is helpful when you need to gain clarity to prioritize ideas.
You need to have an active Jira Product Discovery license.
Ideas need to have a value for the x and y axes field, or they don't appear in the plot.
Bubbles representing custom formulas or multi-select fields can't be dragged and dropped.
In JPD, select a project and under Views > + Create a view > Create a new matrix.
Before you see the actual matrix, you have to select the X-Axis and the Y-Axis values. Select a filed for the Y-Axis and one for the X-Axis. You can interchange the fields by selecting the arrows icon. The positioning of the idea bubbles changes as you change the axis fields.
Under the view title, you can click About this view and add an explanation about the view for the rest of the team to read. Additionally, you can see the number of ideas contained within the view.
The matrix view plots ideas based on 2 fields. You can set the values by adding the idea to the matrix manually, or by setting the fields values in another view.
In the matrix view, select the two fields you will use to plot.
Go to any other view and set the tow fields values in the ideas you want to use.
Now, the ideas will show up on the matrix view.
Add existing ideas by clicking the (+) blue button, search for an idea you want to add and drag and drop it inside the matrix.
Alternatively, you can create a new idea by clicking the (+) blue button and Create new idea. Once it’s created, drag and drop it inside the matrix.
Make the most out of the ideas views by learning how to Use filters, advance sorting and autosave
