Who can do this?

Role: Studio app admin

Atlassian Cloud: Standard, Premium, Enterprise

Atlassian Government Cloud: Not available

The ability to create apps, agents, and automations in Rovo Studio is open by default to all users with access to Rovo Studio. But if you don’t have governance practices in place, this can lead to crowded directories and sprawl.

Studio app admins can restrict who creates apps, agents, and automations by managing Studio settings.

If you’re not a Studio app admin, you’ll need to be granted permission by your Org admin. More: Manage role and app permissions

To access settings specific to Studio:

  1. Navigate to the Studio app via the app switcher.

  2. Select Settings () from the right side of the top navigation.

  3. From the drop down, select Studio settings.

Manage who can create agents

You can determine who can or can’t create agents within your organisation. The options are:

  • All users: This is the default, and allows anyone with access to Studio to create agents.

  • Selected groups: Limits agent creation, up to 10 user groups.

  • No users: Limits creation to you and other Studio app admins.

To set your agent creation permissions:

  1. Navigate to Studio settings.

  2. Select Agents from the left sidebar.

  3. Select your preferred setting:

    1. All users

    2. Selected groups

    3. No users

Then, to specify your selected groups:

  1. From Selected groups, select Add group.

  2. Use the dropdown to search for, then select up to 10 user groups.

  3. When you’re done, select Add.

Manage who can create apps and automations

You can restrict who creates apps and automations by limiting the groups granted the following roles:

  • App creator: This role gives a user permission to create new apps.

  • Automation creator: This role gives a user permission to create new automation rules.

These roles are granted to all Studio users by default.

To manage permissions for app and automation creation:

  1. Navigate to Studio settings.

  2. Select Apps and automations from the left sidebar.

To manage the roles granted to all Studio users by default:

  1. Find All Studio users in the table.

  2. From the Roles dropdown, select the roles you want to grant.

To grant roles to new groups:

  1. Select Add group.

  2. From the dropdown, search for a group and select the desired roles.

To remove groups (revoke all roles granted):

  1. From Apps and automations, find the group in the table you’d like to make changes to.

  2. Select Remove

  3. If you’re ready, select Remove to revoke all roles granted.
