Platform Notice: Cloud Only - This article only applies to Atlassian products on the cloud platform.
Summary
Learn to control welcome emails during user and group pre-loading for smooth migration.
Solution
Key Scenarios
Scenario 1
Action: Users and Groups are pre-loaded.
Outcome: Adding groups to product access subsequently triggers a welcome email.
Scenario 2
Action: If a group already has product access in the cloud (for example, jira-software-users), and users are pre-loaded with membership to this group.
Outcome: No welcome email is triggered, but product access is granted.
To prevent unwanted welcome emails
Before migration, ensure to follow the steps outlined in Configure Outgoing Mail in Jira Cloud for Jira and Disable Email Notification on Confluence Cloud for Confluence.
Set Product Access Group Before Pre-loading Users: Assign product access to the relevant group (such as jira-users or jira-software-users) before pre-loading users. This step is crucial as it prevents emails from being triggered when users are added to the product access group.
Notes
