Share Jira Dashboard or Filter: Adjust Viewer and Editor Permissions
Platform Notice: Cloud Only - This article only applies to Atlassian apps on the cloud platform.
Summary
Dashboards and Filters can have different settings for both their Viewers and Editors. This article shows how to update these settings.
Solution
Before you share Dashboards and Filters
To change the Viewers and Editors of a Dashboard or Filter to anything other than Private, you must have the Share dashboards and filters and Browse users and groups Global Permission.
If you lack the Share dashboards and filters permission, you will only see the Private option in the Viewers dropdown.

Under the Editors drop-down, you see further options due to defect JRACLOUD-81107. But selecting anything other than Private, an error will appear on clicking Save:
"You do not have permission to share. All shares are invalid."
Updating the Viewers and Editors of a Dashboard or Filter
Confirm you have the Share dashboards and filters, and the Browse users and groups Global Permission.
Go to your Dashboard (
YOUR_SITE_NAME.atlassian.net/jira/dashboards
) or Filter (YOUR_SITE_NAME.atlassian.net/jira/filters
) page. Please replaceYOUR_SITE_NAME
with your actual Jira site name.Locate your Dashboard or Filter.
If Editors is set to Private, you are not the Dashboard's Owner. To make changes to its Viewers and Editors, you need to contact the owner or (as a Jira Administrator) change the owner to yourself.
Select the options menu (three dots) next to the Dashboard or Filter you want to update.
For Filters, select Edit.
For Dashboards, select Rename or Share Dashboard.
In the Viewers section:
Select from the Dropdown.
Search for a particular User / Group / Project.
Select Add.
Click Save.
The Editor's section functions the same way.
A side note: To see users when searching, ensure you have the Browse users and groups Global Permission.
Changing the Owner of a Dashboard or Filter
Confirm you have the Administer Jira and the Browse users and groups Global Permission.
Go to your Manage Filters (
YOUR_SITE_NAME.atlassian.net/secure/admin/filters/ViewSharedFilters.jspa)
or Manage Dashboards (YOUR_SITE_NAME.atlassian.net/secure/admin/dashboards/ViewSharedDashboards.jspa
) page. Please replaceYOUR_SITE_NAME
with your actual Jira site name.Find the Dashboard / Filter whose Owner you wish to change.
Select the options menu (three dots) next to the Dashboard or Filter and choose Change Owner.
