"You do not have permission to create requests on behalf of other users" in JSM Cloud

Learn how to fix the error "You do not have permission to create requests on behalf of other users" in the Jira Service Management portal.

Solution

Customers can't select the reporter field

Customers currently can't raise requests on behalf of others. However, when a form (from the Forms feature) is attached to a request type, and it has a field that is linked to the Jira field Reporter, customers can view and interact with the Forms field to set a Reporter. This will cause them to run into the error and won't be able to submit the request.

Unlink the field in your Form

The solution is to unlink the Jira field Reporter from the field in your Form:

  1. Go to Project Settings > Forms.

  2. Select the Form used in the affected Request Type.

  3. Remove the link.

  4. Save the changes.

This would ensure that the customers don't try to modify the reporter field, as they don't have that ability.
