Create status updates with Rovo

Rovo helps you and your team work more effectively by turning recent activity on a focus area into a structured draft status update, making it easier to keep stakeholders informed early and often. Powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning, Rovo is integrated directly into our cloud-based Atlassian apps.

Focus area updates keep everyone in sync through short, high-signal updates that highlight progress, new risks, and major blockers. Rovo drafts from the goals, work, and sub-focus areas already connected to your focus area, so you start from a draft rather than a blank update.

Rovo works to create a status update for Focus

Choose a template for your update

A template sets the structure Rovo uses when it drafts your update. Choose the template that matches the altitude of Focus area you're writing an update, so you spend less time reshaping the draft afterwards.

  1. Go to the focus area you want to write an update for.

  2. On the Updates tab, open the update composer.

  3. Select the dropdown next to Draft with Rovo, then choose a template.

  4. Select Draft with Rovo. Rovo writes your update using the structure of the template you chose.

Using a template to create a status update in Focus.

To use the same template every time, set it as your default. These are the available templates:

  • High-level summary: Summarize progress, highlights, decisions, launches, and risks. Use this to give leaders a clear overview of the most important details.

  • Sub-focus area brief: Summarize highlights, updates, and risks across all sub-focus areas. Use this to give leaders a scannable brief of focus area status.

  • Delivery update: Report on what moved and slipped, risks, and decisions needed to continue delivering. Use this to give leaders a clear overview of delivery status.

Save an update as a draft

If you can't finish an update in one sitting, you can save it as a draft and come back to it later. This works whether you wrote the update yourself or started with Draft with Rovo.
