Import customer and organization profiles

Importing profiles lets you add multiple customers and organizations at once. You can import customer and organization profiles using a CSV file or REST API.

Import profiles with a CSV file

You can also use a CSV file to import new customers and organizations in bulk.

Set up your CSV file

When setting up your CSV file for import, make sure:

  • each row represents a single customer or organization

  • each file is 50,000 rows or less

  • each file is 80MB in size or less

  • you’ve saved your file using UTF-8 encoding

If you've previously used customer and organization profiles on Jira Service Management:

  • each file must be 1,000 rows or less

  • each file must be 1MB in size or less

  • you need to create your customer and organization profiles and the detail fields before importing their details (the import will not create new customers or organizations)

You’ll also want to make sure your CSV column headers have been set up properly:

  • For customers, Email is required as a column header. All other column headers must match your custom detail field names.

  • For organizations, Organization Name is required as a column header. All other column headers must match your custom detail field names.

If you have information you want to import into custom detail fields:

  • Make sure you create all the detail fields you need before uploading your CSV file.

  • Any columns with headers that do not match a custom detail field name will be ignored.

  • If you use the Multi-select dropdown field type, add all options in your project before importing.

    • In your CSV file, separate multiple options using a comma (,) or a pipe (|), for example: Apple, Banana, Strawberry or Apple | Banana | Strawberry

Import your CSV file

  1. From your sidebar, select Customers.

  2. Select Manage details, then Import from CSV.

  3. Follow the prompts. Once you upload your CSV file, select Start import.

  4. Select Upload file and choose your CSV file.

After importing, you can view and manage customer and organization profiles from Customers. You can also assign customers to organizations and manage their product entitlements.
