Unable to read Confluence Pages or Jira issues within Rovo MCP server but can view Spaces
Platform Notice: Cloud Only - This article only applies to Atlassian apps on the cloud platform.
Summary
Fix issues where the Rovo MCP server cannot access Confluence pages or Jira issues despite having access to the parent space.
Diagnosis
Sometimes the Rovo MCP server can read the Spaces but not the Confluence Pages or Jira work items within them, whereas users have access to those Confluence Pages or Jira work items outside MCP.
Cause
Spaces could possibly be added to the blocklist in the Data Security Policy in the Admin Hub.
Solution
Go to Atlassian Administration. Select your organization if you have more than one.
Select Security > Data protection > Data security policy.
Look if Overrides are available for any Controls.
Select a control name to view it.
If the Space is present, that’s the cause.
You can further check by adding a test Space to the above settings to isolate if this is the cause of the issue. If you are testing by removing the Space from these settings in Production, we recommend testing outside business hours to ensure no other users are impacted.
