Epics appear as issues without a parent in Advanced Roadmaps Plans

Platform Notice: Cloud Only - This article only applies to Atlassian products on the cloud platform.

Summary

Epics appear as issues without a parent in Advanced Roadmaps Plans even when the correct hierarchy levels are chosen from the Filters menu.

Cause

This might happen if there are unsaved changes to clear the parent field on these issues. Even though the changes haven't been saved to Jira, these changes will be reflected in the plan timeline.

Solution

To display the Parent of the Epic issue, you should discard any unsaved changes made to clear the parent field on that specific issue.

Once the change is discarded, the Epic issues are seen under the parent issue as per the hierarchy settings in Jira
