Rovo charts in Atlassian Analytics are not updating automatically
Platform Notice: Cloud Only - This article only applies to Atlassian apps on the cloud platform.
Summary
A chart generated via Atlassian Rovo appears static and does not automatically refresh with the latest data.
Diagnosis
You may see the charts created by Rovo are not getting updated (e.g., "last week's data" is missing).
Cause
Charts created through standard Rovo chat interactions are often static snapshots of data at the time of creation. These charts are hosted on the Atlassian Analytics (AVP) platform, but may not have an active data refresh trigger configured by default, or the specific chart type generated does not support dynamic polling.
Solution
To ensure you are viewing a dynamic chart that fetches fresh data from the Atlassian Data Lake, you must explicitly use the Get Data Insights skill.
How to generate a dynamic chart:
Open your Rovo chat window.
Type
/to view available skills.Select or type
get-data-insights.Enter your prompt (e.g.,
/get-data-insights Show me work items created vs resolved for the last 30 days).Rovo will invoke the skill to query the Data Lake and generate a dynamic visualization.
For existing Atlassian Analytics Dashboards:
If the chart is part of a broader Analytics dashboard, ensure the dashboard's refresh settings are configured:
Refresh Method: Set to When dashboard is open in the active tab.
Cache Duration: Lower the cache duration (minimum 2 minutes) to ensure more frequent data fetches.
