Summary
Users are unable to disconnect or reconnect the Rovo connector for Confluence Data Center, receiving an error stating the instance is unavailable. This issue affects Atlassian Cloud environments connecting to Confluence Data Center.
Diagnosis
This issue occurs in Atlassian Cloud when using the Rovo connector to integrate with Confluence Data Center instances.
Cause
The Rovo connector may fail to disconnect or reconnect if the Confluence Data Center license is expired or using an evaluation license that has reached its limit. This causes the connection attempt to return a 400 error because the instance is perceived as unavailable by the Rovo service.
Solution
If you encounter the error "Make sure your Data Center instance is currently available before disconnecting from Rovo" or the error code INSTANCE_UNAVAILABLE_WHEN_DISCONNECTING_CONFLUENCE_DC, follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Verify and update your Confluence license
Log in to your Confluence Data Center instance as a System Administrator.
Go to Administration, then General Configuration.
In the left panel, select License Details.
Check the status of your license. If the license is expired or is an evaluation license that is no longer valid, you must update it.
Enter a valid, active Data Center license key and select Save.
Reconnect the Rovo connector
Once the license is updated and the Confluence instance is fully accessible, try to manage the connector again:
In your Atlassian Cloud site, navigate to the Rovo administration settings.
Locate the Confluence Data Center connector.
Attempt to disconnect the connector.
If the disconnection is successful, follow the prompts to reconnect the connector to refresh the link between the services.
Confirm application tunnel status
If the license is valid but the error persists, ensure the network path is clear:
Verify that the application tunnel between your Atlassian Cloud site and the Confluence Data Center instance is active and stable.
Check that no firewall rules or proxy settings are blocking the connection during the disconnect/reconnect process.
