Viewing Dashboard Fails with NoClassDefFoundError

This problem is related to a third party plugin, and therefore not supported by Atlassian. See Atlassian Supported Plugins for more information.
Symptoms
Viewing dashboard fails with this message:

Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/atlassian/jira/issue/search/SearchSort
at com.tilefile.jira.plugin.portlet.savedfilter.ExtendedSearchRequestPortlet.<clinit>(ExtendedSearchRequestPortlet.java:42)

Cause
The error is caused by the third party Saved Filter Extended Portlet
plugin being installed. The plugin is no longer compatible with JIRA.
Resolution
Remove the third party plugin or install a plugin that is compatible with JIRA.
