Update all User Profiles for the Notify Me option

Note that this KB was created for the Data Center version of the product. Data Center KBs for non-Data-Center-specific features may also work for Server versions of the product, however they have not been tested. Support for Server* products ended on February 15th 2024. Symptoms
Looking for a way to change all user profiles to change their notification settings at once.
Diagnosis
By default, all users start with preferences to not be notified of their own updates. Sample profile screenshot:

Solution
This can be set under Administration > System > Default user preferences:
⚠️ Important note: this change will be applied for all Jira existing and new users.
