Unable to restore Jira Cloud backup with the error 'The import archive doesn't contain entities.xml file'

Summary

When you import backup data into Jira Cloud, the import data might fail with the error "The import archive doesn't contain entities.xml file".

Diagnosis

If you unzip the backup file, you can find thatthe entities.xml file is present in the backup folder along with the activeobjects.xml file, and the error message is not accurate.

Cause

This problem generally occurs when you compress the whole folder instead of individual files, and the import process is unable to locate the entities.xml file in the expected path.

Solution

You need to compress all of the individual files inside the folder (entities.xml, activeobjects.xml, etc.) instead of the folder itself.
