Diagnosis
Performing the search using the custom text field named "External issue Id" does not result in any issues and shows the message:

Invalid JQL: The operator '~' is not supported by the 'External issue ID[Short text]' field.Cause
The field "External Issue Id" already exists in the Jira Cloud instance and is used during CSV import operations. If multiple imports were performed in the past, multiple fields with this name might already exist.
Solution
Rename the field to any other name apart from "External Issue Id" to resolve the issue (Example: External IssueId)
