Unable to "Add People" from Jira business project board view

Summary

Users don't appear in the list when using the 'Add People' button in a Business project view. Adding users to the project works as expected when doing so via Project settings > People.

When you select Add people, and begin typing, no names or users appear, as seen in the screenshot below:

The Add people dialog doesn't list any users on the site.

Solution

Check settings or enable New Navigation

This issue is caused by the underlying logic for the Add People dialog in Jira. The easiest solution is to enable the New Jira Navigation experience:

  1. From Jira, select your Profile picture > Personal settings

  2. Scroll to the Jira labs section

  3. Enable the New navigation toggle

If you'd prefer to stay in the old Jira navigation experience, there's a setting that needs to be enabled for the Add people dialog to work as expected:

  1. Go to admin.atlassian.com

  2. Select Settings > Contacts

  3. Enable the toggle Allow users to connect contacts from Google, Slack, and Microsoft if not already turned on

This will allow addition of required members through external contact integrations.
